Larry Clarkson sends word that after January 1, 1971 his new address will be 702 East Elk Ave., Glendale, Calif. 91205. The information has been relayed to the Alumni Records Office, Larry.
Laddie Myers planned a visit during the Christmas Holidays to Las Vegas where his son, Laddie Jr. holds an executive position at the Howard Hughes Hotel, The Landmark. Laddie Sr. planned also to visit two old friends, former Hinsdale, Ill., residents who have retired to Walnut Creek in the California Bay area. We hope the plans were consummated, Laddie, and met your highest expectations.
California has supplied much unexpected news, herewith transmitted. "The San Rafael Independent Journal," sent me by one of my West Coast scouts, provided an excellent picture of Steve ("Squash")Graves on the tennis court; racquet, infectious grin, et al., plus a head line "Novato Man Doesn't Let Age Stop Him in Sports." "Squash," it seems, earned that sobriquet when he was the Eastern Connecticut squash doubles champion in the 19305. Now Steve captains a squash team at the Hamilton Air Force base when wielding a squash racquet; coaches a ladies' tennis group at the air base; and brandishes an effective tennis racquet for the Novato Tennis Club. In 1970 Steve made it all the way to the finals in the National Senior Hard Court Tennis Tournament in the "70 or older division." When he isn't raising a racquet, this 72-year-old youngster, member of the Sierra Club, hikes and climbs mountains—in 1970, Mount Whitney—training for his 50th reunion, no doubt. Wouldn't it be fun to see on the Hanover, N. H., Varsity Courts a tennis foursome of Ralph Roberts, BillFarnham, Johnny Cullom, and "Squash"Graves at some future informal reunion in June? We "oldsters" could sit in the stands, cheer and "sniff snuff," if Ben Pearson brought some Byfield Red Top for the fans.
Though he eschews publicity PaulSample can't avoid it. The Torrance, Calif., "South Bay Breeze" reports that a Depression Era mural, which Paul did in 1935 just prior to his assumption of Artist-in-Residence at Dartmouth, will be transferred and thence preserved in the E. J. Patterson Elementary School. The Redondo Beach Post Office, the original location of the mural, is to be razed. An official of the Smithsonian Institution said the historical significance of the mural should not be lost because of its subject matter portraying the depression times and also because of its quality. It is said to be Paul's first mural when he was assistant professor on the University of Southern California's faculty.
From John E. Hill we are indebted for a further note on Dean Emeritus Chester Arthur Phillips. In 1965 the University of lowa named its new nearly $2,000,000 College of Business Administration Phillips Hall in honor of its distinguished teacher- scholar and able administrator whose brilliant career at the University of lowa also included service as acting president. lowa business school graduates have honored Phillips by establishing a sizable scholarship named for him and supplying to the business school a valuable portrait of our former mentor. This writer is greatly indebted to Dr. Phillips whose fireside talk on "Teaching as a Profession and Way of Life' at the old Phi Sig house made a very deep and abiding impression.
Sherman Adams has provided the foreword and the commentary for a new edition of "Scenery of the White Mountains" written more than a century ago by William Oakes, famous botanist who devoted much of his life to the study of New England flora, especially in the White Mountain area. The New Hampshire Publishing Company in Somersworth, N. H., has printed the new volume. In publicizing the new edition the "Laconia (N. H.) Citizen" supplied an excellent picture of Sherm in out-door garb with the Old Man above Profile Lake in the background.

Welcome back to the Granite State and a residence nearby your Newfound Lake summer home, Hib and Kay. Waldo "Pete" Potter is now located at 1550 Empire Boulevard, Webster, N. Y. 14550.
Mrs. Charles R. Cheadle now resides at 4909 Stonington Rd., Winston-Salem, N. C. Belatedly the Alumni Records Office has learned that Charles passed away in 1968. The Class extends its sympathy. Mrs. Edward C. Aitken has remarried and is now Mrs. S. B. Raybuck. Wes Carr Jr. has a new address: 663 Commercial Street, Provincetown, Mass. 02657. Last summer's visit to the Cape Cod area apparently proved irresistible to Wes. Welcome back to the East Coast, Wes!
A brief bulletin from Florida reports that the Eddie Bowens have a new wharf and the local hospital at Delray Beach has an ample supply of fireplace wood obtained from the splinters removed from Ed's hands. He insisted on moving all the new planks with his own two hands! Preparing for 1920s informal reunion in June, no doubt.
