The conspiracy to prevent 'OB news from getting to Hanover and thence into the ALUMNI MAGAZINE is meeting with unusual success this month. In fact, only two items of class news have been dropped in the reporter's lap, and one he dug out himself.
From Munich, Germany, a post card from Larry Symmes says: "Just to show you that I succeeded, I'm sending you this card. The country is quiet, the people are friendly and seem happy. I guess they like it. I am going down to Florence and Rome, and sailing back on the Queen Mary Nov. la. I see by the Paris Herald that the Dartmouth football team is meeting expectations." The card was mailed October 30, and by "succeeded" we suppose Larry means that he was successful in getting to Europe. Last month we reported that his anticipated trip had been postponed by war scares and hurricanes.
Mort Hull sent us a picture of the wreck of his fine big boat, the boat about which we expressed curiosity last month. Mort says the craft was completely wrecked in the hurricane of Sept. 21, when the wharf to which it was moored was swept -away and the boat tossed on a rocky shore at Eastern Point, near New London, Conn. Mort also says he carried full insurance on the boat, and that a new and better one is now being built, to be ready for use next May.
Joe Blakely was seen last week prowling along Hanover's main street looking for somebody to fix the flat tire on his Buick. Joe has been visiting the Eye Clinic in Hanover, and says the experts there tell him his eyes are absolutely all right, with the glasses he has been using. Asked what made him think he was going blind, Joe replied that he didn't think so, and didn't much care anyway, as he figured he had already seen about all there is to see. But, he continued, his wife was getting worried because he failed to see everything just as she did, and at her insistence he was having a check-up.
