Ed Meleney, associate professor of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, has won a high reputation for himself for his research work and discoveries, particularly in the field of tropical medicine.
As this is being written, on the second day of February, I have just received various communications from Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Burns,, who have been sojourning in the Carolinas and Florida. Marj and I had a little controversy last summer as to which grew the best and tallest delphin- iums. She sent me a card from St. Au- gustine, showing some plant or other at least fifteen feet tall, with the statement that this was a delphinium which she had grown during her four days' stay there. Bob sent me a postcard of Ponce De Leon's Fountain of Youth, with the statement that he had taken one drink of its water and then gone out to shoot an 87 on the golf course, which he followed with the state- ment that he was sending me a jugful. I will appreciate any suggestions for rebuttal, not having either the time or means to go to Florida. In any event, the Burnses had a delightful time and returned full of health and energy.
Reggie Bankart is convalescing in Sarasota, Fla. He expects to return early in the spring with his "blood pressure and waistline reduced, chest measure increased, andwith a vacuum in his wallet."
We are trying to promote an 'O9 reunion in Florida next year.
Jake Mason's son John has made application for entrance this coming fall, also Howard Peterson's son, Howard Jr.
Jake, of course, has been a really good photographer for years, but now that he has more time to devote to the art, he is rapidly acquiring the skill of a first class professional.
Tom Bell, as accountant, your Secretary as lawyer, and Jim Tuttle as president of Rust-Proofing 8c Metal Finishing Corp., have been having some very pleasant times swapping reminiscences, etc., under the guise of preparing tax returns for Jim's corporation, at Jim's expense. We haven't had a disagreement as yet. Jim undoubtedly knows more about the various processes of chromium plating, alumiliting, rust-proofing, etc., metals than anybody else in New England.
