Joe Truman, for nearly 35 years janitor of the Casque and Gauntlet house, died on January 29 after a long illness. Six Dartmouth seniors, all members of Casque and Gauntlet, served as bearers at the funeral services. Mr. Truman, who was 62 years old, was a familiar figure at the corner of Main and West Wheelock streets, was the inventor of the "Lightning" cleaner widely used in Hanover, and at one time operated a small popcorn stand in the Nugget alley.
