George (Spud) Bray, College inspector and paternalistic overseer of student conduct for many years, left Hanover on leave of absence this past month because of ill health. He will spend several months in Florida, and upon his return to Hanover will assume his campus duties.
Inspector Bray, now 65, has been associated with the College since 1930, first as janitor, then as head janitor, and now as inspector. Among his various duties, he has superintended student conduct during the college year, particularly on party week-ends. He is busy at nearly all public functions of the College, is in charge of all janitors of dormitories and college buildings, and occasionally takes on the role of detective to recover stolen property. He is best known to a host of Dartmouth men, however, as a sympathetic preceptor of errant youth. During his absence his duties will be fulfilled by Nelson Wormwood, watchman for the west side of campus.
