A summary of the 1938 Alumni Fund through May 23 discloses that contributions of 147,888.30 from 2,981 alumni represent a decrease of $730.65 from the total amount received during the corresponding period last year and an increase of 334 in the number of contributors. The total of May 23 represents 43.5% of the objective of $110,000, as compared to 44.2% for the corresponding date last year, and 26% of the living graduates of the College, as compared to 24% last year.

Ten classes have passed their objectives for the 1938 campaign, 1879 leading with 1029%, followed by 1881 with 909%, 1887 with 336%, 1884 with 221%, 1878 with 192%, 1901 with 131%, 1889 with 130%, 1888 with 117%, 1898 with 113%, and 1880 with 108%. Two classes have perfect records on the score of percentage of contributors, 1879 with 113% and 1878 with 100%.

In the Green Derby contests, 1901 leads the group of classes from 1898 to 1909 with a combined ranking of 213%, as compared to 192% for 1898 in second place. In the group from 1910 to 1922, the classes of 1913 and 1914 are tied with a combined ranking of 88%, followed by 1918 with 79% and 1921 with 78%. In the third group from 1923 to 1937, the class of 1926 has a strong lead with 98%, followed by 1930 with 83%.

One of the encouraging aspects of the 1938 Fund to date is the large number of gifts received after lapses of many years, including 39 gifts from those who had never contributed before. In the early, returns there were 195 increases in gifts over last year, as against 106 decreases.
