WITH A NEW alumni year and speaking for the seven alumni clubs in Connecticut, I expect that at its conclusion they will be able to point to a record of greater accomplishment for Dartmouth than ever before. With the individual classes doing such a marvelous job on the Fund and the distribution of the MAGAZINE, the two most important kinds of activity left to the Associations are those of increasing the efficiency of interviewing applicants to Dartmouth, and the equally important and more difficult task of adding to the sorely needed Scholarship Funds administered by Professor Neef.

In furtherance of this latter object it is a pleasure to announce that the Bridgeport Club has sent $200 to Professor Neef to be used for scholarship purposes as determined by him. This money was raised as has been true in the past through the medium of a play sponsored at the Westport Country Playhouse by the Bridgeport Alumni. The money is hard earned and represents much commendable work by a large committee ably headed by "Bill" Haist '34.

I am not yet able to report the amount of money sent by the Stamford Club to Professor Neef also for financial aid purposes but hope to do so in the next report. With the addition of Stamford, Connecticut has two clubs which in the future should regularly contribute to the scholarship fund. It is the purpose of the state organization ultimately to increase to seven the number of clubs which are having a part in the work.

The state meeting of Bridgeport in May was attended by more than 170 alumni, guests, and friends. It was highly successful from every standpoint. The gathering was made the more notable by the presence of Craven Laycock '96, who forsook his Hanover haunts and warmed the hearts of those present with his words. Bob Strong '24 gave a fine talk on the state of the College and Whit Miller '40, talked about football.

Charlie Rice '23, that youthful perennial from Hartford, was elected president of the State Association, Ev Robie '17 of Stamford, a slightly older perennial, first vice president; Phil Pelletier '15 of New Britian, second vice president; and yours truly once again secretary-treasurer. News over the summer is always scarce but the Bridgeport Club held its always successful annual Dartmouth-Wesleyan outing featured by a football game and dinner.

The New Haven Club had its annual meeting at Camp Clearview in North Haven on June 24. Some 25 including undergraduates turned out. Swimming, a ball game, ping pong tournament and what not, followed by an informal hamburg supper was enjoyed by all. At the meeting Ed Pastore '31 and George Lane were elected president and vice president respectively, but unfortunately Ed will shortly move to Newark so a new president will be elected. Ken Foster '26 with Gordon Colby '27 are carrying on as treasurer and secretary respectively. An executive committee was organized consisting of Ed Fowler '27, Howard Ransom and John Meek '33. Ken Gilchrist '19 will head the program committee.
