ON SATURDAY NIGHT, December 10, alumni of the eight so-called "Ivy League" colleges residing in this section held a banquet and party at the Hotel John Marshall in Richmond. It is the first time that a gathering of this kind has ever been held here and the mutual interest of these colleges in scholastic and athletic standards suggested the idea. While the purpose of the gathering was entirely social, it created much discussion among all college graduates in this section, and it may even become the nucleus for a University Club to replace the one which died some years ago. About a hundred alumni attended the dinner which did not have a dull moment. The various groups interspersed their college songs during the evening and several put on skits. Telegrams of good wishes were received from the presidents of several of the Ivy colleges, as well as from such world-renowned figures as Hitler, Mussolini, and Sally Rand.

The principle address of the evening was made by.President Arthur Howe of Hampton Institute. Dr. Howe is a Yale graduate and was on the Dartmouth faculty for several years. The toastmaster was Charles G. Milham '06, President of the Dartmouth Club of Virginia. A speaker from each college gave a five minute talk on his college and its alumni activities here.

Dr. Douglas VanderHoof '01, spoke for the Dartmouth group. The Dartmouth Club had the largest attendance in proportion to its membership here, and took a leading part in the entire affair. The gathering was a success and brought together a number of men who discovered mutual friends and interests. A committee from the eight colleges will meet next month to decide on a permanent organization.

After a lapse during the Holidays the regular Tuesday luncheons of the club have been resumed at Murphy's Hotel. Visiting Dartmouth men please note.

A recent report advises that Charles A. Rich '75, living in Charlottesville, Va., is well. Mr. Rich is the oldest living alumnus in this section, and before retiring was a prominent architect. A Happy New Year to him!
