IN MAY,1918.... In their popular elections, the seniors aroused the envy of the freshmen at their sophistication by choosing as their favorite movie actors Douglas Fairbanks, William S. Hart, and Charlie Ray; movie actresses, Norma Talmadge, Marguerite Clark, and Elsie Ferguson; cigarettes, Omar, Pall Mall, and Fatima; and songs, Dancing Honeymoon first, and A Baby's Prayer at Twilight tied with Men of Dartmouth for second
The freshmen had their picture taken without "riot or disorder." "During the evening before the event, 130 first-year men hid themselves some four miles north of Hanover, and shortly after one o'clock, the hour set for the opening of the picture, some nine snaps had been made of the group.".... Three freshmen won Rifle Club insignia: Helmer, Lies, and Wells; medals went to Hart and Vandeveer
