Green Derby Standings in Alumni Fund Contests
The figures below show the standings on May 22, 1939, of the classes from 1898 to 1938 in the three Green Derby contests which are being conducted as a competitive stimulus in connection with the Alumni Fund campaign. The Green Derby rankings, figured weekly on the basis of the combined per cent of graduates contributing and per cent of objective, provide the most significant summary of all-round accomplishment by the classes. A few large gifts may enable a class to make a good showing with regard to per cent of objective, but without broad participation of the class this showing is offset in the final Green Derby ranking, which strikes a balance between achievement in number of contributors and in amount contributed.
The classes of 1900 and 1919, both operating on special class plans, are not included in the rankings until the end of the campaign. Last year's winners were 1901 in Group A, 1913 in Group B, and 1926 in Group C.
