THE SEVEN-TENTHS of a mile from the parking site to the Ravine Camp at Mt. Moosilauke will take on Arctic glamor this winter, it has been announced by Hans Paschen, general manager of the Dartmouth Outing Club. A dog sled drawn by nine genuine Arctic huskies will provide a shuttle service between the entrance cabin and the main camp for those who want to conserve their energy for Hell's Highway.
The new transportation system will be run by "Brud" Gardner of Quechee, Vt., whose team of huskies has been a feature of recent Winter Carnivals. Three or four persons with their skiing gear can be driven in to the Ravine Camp on each trip. Visitors to the camp can phone from the entrance cabin, if their arrival is not expected, and while waiting for the sled can warm themselves before the fire or play darts.
The Outing Club, which has insisted upon maintaining the wilderness atmosphere of the Ravine Camp, is proud of the fact that it has solved the transportation problem without weakening its original resolve.
