"I'll be there in JUNE WITH MY WIFE," writes Wilder Pierce. Such statements are coming thick and fast. Mutt Ray and his Committee have sent the following
REPORT ON REUNION PLANS
'With the summer months behind us, it's time that we actually began to formulate our reunion plans along definite lines.
"First, the committee would like to pass this word along to all the men who are now in the Army and Navy Service. We'd like to have all of you back for reunion, and therefore if it is at all possible, could you start laying your plans to have your leave come up at the time of our reunionthe week-end of June 20th (Hanover Holiday week immediately precedes it)? This, of course is a lot to ask of you, but if we are to have a large representation in Hanover, it will be necessary for all of us to plan for that date well in advance. If anyone has not already discovered that leave is difficult to obtain, we refer you to Bill Geraghty, who would be happy to furnish all particulars. And for a dash of local color, follow up with an inquiry to Albie Chester.
"We are happy to announce that arrangements have been completed for the appearance of Margie Hart as guest organizer of the entertainment committee. Margie, as one of her duties, will conduct the string quartet, and will also personally take command of the Beaver pavillion.
"From time to time we'll have reunion news in the Mint Bag and there'll be the monthly article in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, written by one of the committee members. In this manner we hope to keep everyone informed of the plans for reunion."

'57 FIVE YEARS AGO THIS MONTH
Cold raw days with the wind coming in around the windows, yet somehow you are warm and comfortable in the big chair studying for a pile of hour exams. Later a brisk walk downtown for a shake and then back to the rise of industrialism and its attendant economic problems. There is no real snow as yet but it looks like it every day.
The hockey squad under Capt. Less Barrett is working out in the Davis Rink and Prager has started a dry ski course in the gym. Everyone is talking skiing and some have gone to Mansfield. Ski movies and lecture by Prager. Basketball has started, (Capt. Hal Parachini and Ab Dingle among the veterans) with an exhibition game—first tilt with Vermont won 34-29. The DOC has started competitions and publicity for Carnival—posters are on sale. Football is still with us: AP All-Eastern picked Handrahan at fullback—Merrill Davis elected capt. to succeed Gordon Bennett Dave Camerer writes a, review of the season in From the Inside 0ut.... Ray and Handrahan picked for New Year's Game Track season hopes are Genewich, Hoffstetter, and Donovan.
But there are other things besides athletics. Aside from the stores getting out all their Xmas finery there are actually things happening outside the campus: Madrid is being heavily bombed and the Insurgents are making advances.... is this the prelude of things to come? Edward VIII has abdicated the throne of England and has left for France nevermore to return—all for 1-o-o-v-v-e.
Other things that we like: Eleanor King's recital—modern dance stuff.... the demolition of Chandler Ha 11.... the Kedroff Quartet.... plans for the new dining hall (Thayer Hall) .... the Don Cossacks. Crew receives large sum of money, may result in official recognition. The Xmas carol service in Rollins .... the ski exhibit in Wilson (museum) .... topical majors discussed at length in Faculty meeting.
The hockey team has won its first game over the Quebec Olympics W. H. McCarter named Director of Athletics Xmas Party of Faculty in Commons Fraternity gives Xmas Party for poor kids .... ski squad splits up for vacation meets. There is some snow before we go home for the holidays and we get in some skiing on Balch—wanted to go to Moosilauke last week-end but had a Socy hour-exam. But the exams are about over and we are making plans to go home. Wondering what to get the folks and the girl for Xmas .... looking up train schedules .... trying to find that new pair of socks your roommate got.
Best of all is that after-the-last-class-excitement.... rush to the room, grab your bag, off to the June.... you miss your lunch, BUT YOU'RE GOING HOME FOR XMAS!
Merry Xmas, Men—See You in 1942
