Capt. Harry Johnson "Jock" Zimmerman '27, chief pilot of the eastern and Atlantic divisions of Transcontinental and Western Air Inc., has been going places all these years since leaving Hanover. He has logged more than is,ooo hours in the air and is one of the 38 pilots on T.W.A. who are million milers.
His present job, Jack says, consists mostly of "beatin' the boys' ears down for doing things I used to do." His wishful thinking has him "flying a blue ribbon transcontinental mail run in single-seater mail planes."
J. Edgar Hoover, it is reported, while chasing Alvin Karpis in 1936, drew Jack as pilot on a secret charter flight to New Orleans. Although Jack had never flown over any of the country before, he arrived half an hour before schedule and Hoover was so pleased with Jack's flying that he has asked for his services whenever the FBI charters a plane.
