REGULAR WEEKLY luncheons have been held since our last report and the ups and downs of our colorful football season naturally occupied a good deal of the discussions. Coming down to Dartmouth Night, we planned a fairly extensive evening and under the capable guidance and untiring efforts of Heinie Bourne '23 one of the most successful evenings in a long time was greatly enjoyed by about 100 alumni, particularly a goodly number of men from the younger classes, which was most gratifying. In fact, we of the older classes have been more than pleased with the support we have received from the younger men.
Then of course came the memorable afternoon of Nov. 16th and the decision of the following Monday. The local Cornell group here, with whom our relations are as fine as those of the two colleges themselves, invited our group to the following Saturday reports of their Pennsylvania game and Tea Dance at the University Club. Some 50 alumni, wives and guests lent their support to this affair and spent a most enjoyable afternoon accepting congratulations on the results of the previous week-end.
On December 28th we held our Annual Father's and Son's luncheon for alumni, undergrads and prospective men for the class of '45. Charlie French '24, with his usual finesse and business acumen arranged the most successful luncheon of this type ever held here, with Dartmouth music, movies and talks, the whole affair ably M. C'd by Bob Stecher '19, with Fletch Andrews '16, local Alumni Council representative, speaking for Dartmouth and Ossie Mills '41 giving one of the finest and most sincere undergraduate talks heard here in some time.
The Club has unanimously gone on record favoring Bob Stecher (Dr. R. M.) '19 to succeed Fletch Andrews '16, whose second term expires this June, for the Alumni Council and sincerely hopes for and feels sure of the whole hearted support of neighboring alumni groups. Fletch has our sincere thanks for a good job well done and we know Bob can ably carry on.
