Eddie Wells, Hanover-born son of the late Harry Wells, Dartmouth's former Supt. of Buildings and well known architect, was 1910's first contribution to present day national skiing circles. Eddie after two years at Dartmouth Medical School, is now finishing his course at N. Y. University Medical, commuting week-ends to Woodstock, Vt. to help Harold Hillman run a ski school.
Bob Wells, Harry's next son, has recovered from an appendectomy, and is on the squad again.
Jack Tobin is on the Varsity team and has been doing steadily improving work. He spent last summer skiing in Chile. Skiing is his sport just as football was Clarke's. .. .and while he never will be an All-American guard like his dad, he will be a top-flight skier.
But 1910's most interesting contribution to Dartmouth's great Winter sport is Deborah Bankart, daughter of footballer Larry who was the third brother to play on Dartmouth football teams and who in the late 'teens head-coached Colgate's famous unbeaten elevens.
Deprived by rules and tradition from following numerous Bankarts of two generations into recitation halls at Hanover, Debby, one of the three certified women ski pros in the United States, did the next best thing and accepted a position at the increasingly famous Hanover Ski School which centers around Ford Sayre and The Hanover Inn... .fellow instructors on the faculty being Walter Prager and Jack Durrance. She's making future Dartmouth greats out of tiny faculty and town kiddies, even including the young son of Dean of Admission, Bob Strong, who might have relaxed a bit . . . .and allowed Debby to become an undergraduate.
