Alumni Council Election
May 1941

DEVELOPMENTS IN THE annual selection of representatives to the Alumni Council from six geographical districts of the country included last month the withdrawal of one of the two nominees in District II (Atlantic States). Edward S. Poole '11 of Albany withdrew his name from the contest, leaving Philip H. Chase '07 of Philadelphia as the only nominee and therefore declared elected to the Council for a first term of three years beginning in June. The vacancy in the district arises by the expiration of the second term of Sumner B. Emerson 'l7 of Philadelphia.

Mr. Poole informed the secretary of the Alumni Association that he did not wish to have his name appear on the election ballot, and said:

"While I would consider membership on the Alumni Council a great privilege and honor, under the circumstances I think it is desirable to ask that my nomination be withdrawn. I sincerely.feel that our section of the State is very ably represented by Clark Weymouth '26 of Rochester, N. Y., and that we really are not entitled to any other member on the Council."
