A RADIO PROGRAM celebrating the birthday of Richard Hovey '85 will be broadcast by WLAW at Lawrence, Mass., Sunday afternoon, May 4 from s:oo to 3:30. The station is 680 on the dial and is a part of the CBS national network. The broadcast will be given from the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover, Mass., where the grave of Dartmouth's Poet Laureate is located.
An alumni quartet, consisting of Robert B. Moseley '04, Matthew W. Bullock '04, Harry S. McDevitt '07, and George W. Grebenstein '07, and another group of singers including other men prominent in Massachusetts affairs will be heard over the air. The Reverend Clinton W. Carvell '18, pastor of the North Andover Trinitarian Congregational Church will preside at the program. Alton E. Briggs '85 will speak for Hovey's classmates.
It is probable that WEEI, 590 on the dial, and perhaps some other stations will carry the program. Bill Cunningham '19 has been asked to speak briefly on the subject "Richard Hovey, Who Has Interpreted Dartmouth Spirit."
Tentative plans are being made by the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Boston to hold a Hovey Hum later in May. Meanwhile New England alumni are invited to attend the exercises commemorating Richard Hovey's 77th birthday at the North Andover cemetery, May 4.
