THE BIG NIGHT was Monday, March 31. Purposely planned later than usual in the season to coincide with the spring vacation, the annual dinner attracted the athome undergraduates and their fathers. Resulting attendance was one of the largest ever,—the program among the best within long recollection.
Win Wadleigh '23, president, toastmastered in the I'm-having-a good time-too manner. Songs and cheers were stimulated to lusty pitch and volume by Jack English '16 and Dick Willis '22.
Prof. Allen R. Foley '20—In addition to giving his famous impersonation of Craven Laycock, A 1 Foley discussed "Dartmouth, Changing and Unchanged" with sincere seriousness as well as sprinkling his remarks with insertions of the lighter vein. "Changes taking place today need not make a change in the things that count most. They need not mean a change in the harbor toward which we set our course."
Sidney C. Hayward '26—Representing President Hopkins, to whom the gathering telegraphed greetings, "Secretary of Secretaries" Sid effectively described the functions of the liberal college in the national emergency. Dartmouth, he stated, believes it best for students to complete their courses before entering military service,—but as an institution is ready to adjust itself to requirements and has already offered to Washington the use of the College at any time.
Tuss McLaughry—Our new head foot- ball coach likes the looks of his material, especially the upcoming freshmen, and expects to develop a strong team next fall. The tougher schedule meets with his cheerful approval. He made a fine impression all around, and we especially appreciated his coming down to Manchester that evening after the arduous business of moving from Rhode Island to Hanover during the day.

Wellman '89, as whose guest Pres- ident Fred Engelhardt of the University of New Hampshire spoke briefly and eloquently The new Association Banner was unfurled for its initial appearance,large and handsome, the reward of a campaign managed by Wallis A. McCoy '07, who is also responsible for a Directory of Dartmouth Men in Manchester and Vicinity, soon to be published.
