Gus ZITRIDES '39, who has brought much favorable publicity to his home town, received an enthusiastic testimonial from a large gathering of Dartmouth Alumni and undergraduates at the annual luncheon Saturday, December 31. From Harold C. McAllister '13, President of the Association and Toastmaster, he received a beautifully engraved silver plaque bearing this inscription: "Presented to Gregory G. Zitrides '39 by the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Manchester in recognition of his consistently outstanding play on the Dartmouth football teams of 1936, 1937, and 1938".

Careful planning of the affair by the committee succeeded in making the presentation a complete surprise to Gus, who responded with typically unaffected modesty. Hubie McDonough '19, his coach at Central High, attributed Zitrides' success to— "A priceless heritage of determination and courage—the ability to charge faster and harder against opponents of superior size".

William S. Green '39 presided over the undergraduate portion of the program and the following students described developments in their respective fields of activity: Arnold Bartlett '41, the Players, Bill Green '39, debating, Harold McAllister Jr. '40, baseball. Jim Powers Jr. '39, basketball, Gus Zitrides '39, football. Two members of the class of '42 to whose future athletic promise reference was made were Bob Hickey football and Dick Burns baseball.

Singing of Dartmouth songs featured Dick Willis '22 at the piano and John Gault '95. Classes represented range from James A. Wellman 'B9 to Robert Flanders Jr. (son of Dr. "Rocky" Flanders '14)- potential member of the class of 1948.

Immediately after the luncheon a telegram was read which had the day previous been sent to the widow of Dr. John W. Bowler and all heads were bowed in a moment of tribute to the man who was a true friend to generations of Dartmouth men.
