In the October MAGAZINE, mention was made in our notes of two sons of '89 in the"* Service, John Redfield, C. A. and Walter Sullivan Jr., in the Navy The list of alumni in the August issue included three of our sons in the Medical Corps, Robert Bradish '23 (he has been in the Regular Army for several years), Theodore Miner '23, and Theodore Robie '22, both in the Navy Another name is now added, George F. Sparhawk Jr., a private in the Infantry.

Davis spent his summer "vacation" in Bennington, Vt., working on a "text book of phonetics for graduate students." He wrote enthusiastically of the historically rich old town and its delightful climate.

.... From another source, I have heard that "E. B." has published "Sanscrit vowels," reprinted from v. 62, No. 2 of "Journal of American Oriental Society"; also, "French Spelling" appeared in April issue of "Mod- ern Language Journal."

[The death of Dr. Blakely, October 15,removes one of Dartmouth's most devotedsons. He will be very greatly missed. A fullnecrology notice will appear next month.—ED.]
