THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, accelerating along with the rest of the College, held its regular "spring" meeting in Hanover on February 14 and devoted itself largely to financial and faculty matters.
Eight members of the teaching staff received promotions at the meeting. Those elevated to full professorships were Norman K. Arnold, Zoology; William W. Ballard '28, Zoology; Robert M. Bear, Psychology; Edmund H. Booth 'lB, English; and Robin Robinson '24, Mathematics. Roy P. Forster was promoted from Instructor to Assistant Professor of Zoology, Almon B. Ives from Instructor to Assistant Professor of Public Speaking, and Dr. M. Dawson Tyson from Instructor in Pathology to Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Medical School.
Three new faculty appointments for 1942-43 were those of Allen L. King as Instructor Physics, John B. Holyoke as Teaching Fellow in Pathology in the Medical School, and Ralph H. Twining Jr. '42 as Assistant in Chemistry. Dr. Henry L. Heyl of the Hitchcock Clinic was named Instructor in Surgery in the Medical School for the present semester and the academic year 1942-43
Five bachelor degrees were granted by the Trustees to: Grafton Edgar Burke '40, Albert Holden Higbee '41, Hubert John Murphy '41, Richard Ackerknecht Potter '4l, and Dinajati Suriyong '4l. Clifford Arthur Falkenau received the M.C.S. degree as with the Tuck School Class of 1941.
President Hopkins presided over the meeting of the Board and other Trustees in attendance included John R. McLane 'O7, Victor M. Cutter 'O3, Edward S. French 'O6, Dr. John F. Gile 'l6, Philip S. Marden '94, Dr. Arthur H. Ruggles 'O2, William J. Minsch 'O7, Harvey P. Hood II 'lB, and Dudley W. Orr '29.
