APPROXIMATELY 150 MEMBERS of the Chicago Association gathered in the ballroom of the Blackstone Hotel on the evening of April 9th for the Association's annual meetingandbanquet. Those present heard one of the most forceful and inspiring messages that has ever been delivered to a meeting of Chicago alumni, given by Dean Lloyd K. Neidlinger '23. His subject dealt with the effect the war effort is having on the College, the obligations it is attempting to fulfill and the ideals it is striving to preserve. The doubts of any who may have questioned the place of the College in the present order were completely dispelled and our faith in those administering its affairs, thoroughly renewed.

We also had as our guests at the banquet, Harvey Hood '18, chairman of the Alumni Fund drive, and Al Dickerson '30, the Fund's able executive secretary. They were here for the class agents dinner held at the University Club on April 10th.

Amid hearty applause (notwithstanding a few asides of "railroad") the report of the nominating committee was unanimously approved and the following were elected officers of the Association for the coming year: president, Ken Thomas '21; vice president, "Worthy" Walters '26; treasurer, Fred Uhlemann '30; and secretary, the undersigned. "Spic" Saunders '22 and Bill Ryan '23 were elected members of the executive committee for terms expiring in 1945.

In his acceptance speech Ken Thomas paid tribute to the accomplishments during the past year of Bill Juergens '23, our retiring president. Bill did a grand job and deserves the sincere thanks of our entire membership.

After considerable delay the Association's new directory was published a few weeks ago. Dick Gunthorp '26 and his assistants who were in charge of this project found themselves confronted with a tremendous task due to present conditions and they have earned a special word of gratitude.
