ONE OF THE "LIBERTY SHIPS" being built by the United States Maritime Commission will be christened the "Eleazar Wheelock" in honor of Dartmouth's founder, the College has been notified. The launching is scheduled for sometime during the month of May.
The Maritime Commission is following the policy of naming its emergency cargo ships after distinguished deceased Americans. Although the launching ceremonies in connection with the "Liberty Ships" are kept extremely simple, Dartmouth has been invited to be represented when the "Eleazar Wheelock" slides down the ways.
