THE DARTMOUTH ALUMNI ASSOCIATION of Wilmington had a dinner meeting at the University Club on Thursday evening, March 26, for the Delaware alumni and friends of the College.

Guests included James Guernsey, headmaster of Wilmington's famed Tower Hill School which has long had a fine representation at Dartmouth, prospective Dartmouth men and fathers of Dartmouth men.

Jack Gunther presided and announced plans for a spring outing for Dartmouth alumni and their wives at Bob Warren's nearby farm in May.

The college was ably represented by Professor Donald Stone who brought Hanover to Wilmington as he spoke on the problems and progress of Dartmouth's adjustment to wartime conditions which involves increasing its wartime usefulness to undergraduates without too great a sacrifice of long range objectives. Interspersed in a report on such an abstract subject were bits of news about the college.

Dartmouth will survive this war as a vital force in democratic life, in the opinion of Professor Stone, as it has survived the stress of other wars, as for example when it was the only New England college that did not close its doors during the Revolutionary War.

Professor Stone announced that our turnout in Wilmington was larger than that of our friendly rivals in Baltimore though the latter have a considerably larger potential. Some of our alumni came from Dover and Georgetown to attend, an indication of the solidarity of the Delaware alumni group.

A moment of silence was observed for our esteemed and beloved alumnus, the late Robb Marsden, former dean of the Thayer School, who died a few days before our meeting.

Among those present were: Guests: James Guernsey, John J. Morris Jr., John J. Morris III, Chester Jones, Dr. Lawrence Jones, Dr. M. A. Tarumianz and Paul Ehinger; alumni: Edward P. Bart- lett '08, R.
