Charles Albert Weston passed away suddenly at his home in Springfield, Mass. on April 9. Chuck had closed his office and retired from dental practice on March Ist. He had placed orders for seeds and shrubs —planning to develop his garden of which he was very fond. On one of the early, warm days in April he spent the day raking the garden and trimming the vines and in doing so over-taxed his heart.

Chuck came to Dartmouth from Windsor, Vermont and during his Freshman year became closely associated with Guy Richards, Blondy Gay and Carl Richardson. Your Secretary feels quite sure that they roomed together. This close friendship continued and ripened even after graduation. Chuck's sunny disposition and whimsical humor attracted to him many friends—even from other classes.

During his Junior and Senior years he was Manager of the Baseball Team known at that time as the Dartmouth Reserves. This team on Saturdays and holidays played with considerable success against baseball clubs located along the Connecticut Valley. Your Secretary was a member of this team and recalls with an inward chuckling many incidents which occurred during these trips. Chuck was very fond of his Class and was a regular attendant at Class Reunions and Dinners and was present at many of the Ivy League Football games at Hanover in the Fall.

His love for '96 extends even after his lifetime, for in his will be bequeathed a sum of money to his Class.

President Guy Richards has prepared Chuck's obituary which appears in the Necrology Section of this issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE.

The financial report of the Alumni Fund has not come in at this writing. Your Secretary feels that '96 has made a splendid response to the financial needs of the College and will be found in a high place in percentage rating.
