Dr. Winans Honored

A DINNER IN HONOR of James Albert Winans, who retired this spring after 22 years as Evans Professor of Public Speaking, was held at the Hanover Inn on June 16.

In the course of the celebration messages were read from many of his former students, from colleagues who had served with him in the department at Dartmouth, and from members of the Administration of the College including President Hopkins, Dean Bill, and Dean Neidlinger.

Professor Winans was presented with a large silver tray on which was engraved the signatures of the eighteen men who were members of the department of public speaking during Professor Winans' years at Dartmouth.
