AT THE ANNUAL DINNER of the officers and directors of the Long Island Association, held at the Hempstead Golf Club early in March a new idea was put into operation in honoring past presidents of the association.

Exact replicas of "The Dartmouth Tomahawk" were presented to J. Horace "Jigger" Pender '97, the first president of the association and to Henry J. A. Collins '18, our second president for their outstanding work as officers and members of the Long Island group and for meritorious service to the College through their efforts in bringing about and continuing the club in its present strength. ,

The Tomahawks were designed by Cliff Hart '21, and made by Art Keleher '27, from the ideas of Dink Miller '21 and Ed Warnke '19. It is the hope and desire of the association to extend the presentation of these Tomahawks to outstanding Dartmouth men from Long Island who have distinguished themselves in the service of their country and their college.

At a meeting held at the home of Ed Warnke on May 8, the executive committee voted to forego the Spring party this year and await developments in the international and national situations.

Many of the members are active in defense interests and feel that the national welfare is best served by devoting their spare time in organizations of the home communities.

Several more of our young alumni have been reported in active service in the armed forces. Bob Reeves '38 and D. Settiness of Bayside, L. I. have entered Naval Service. R. K. Thomas '39 of Garden City finished training on the Prairie State and received his Ensign's commission in May, and was reported to have entered matrimony on the same day. Doctor Bob McCollom of Great Neck has also entered the armed forces. Best of luck to our boys for God and for country!
