dear bud i hope you and the boys havent forgotten old andy the typewriting tapeworm i been pounding my head against the keys like mad for three years now but dickerson just throws these gems away these days its a criminal loss to parasite literature but what can you expect of a dope like dickerson who always had a low taste at best lorinda the louse says my work has raised wormhoocl to new heights that may be exaggerated comma but w'ebster says insight is understanding of the true inner nature of things and i tell you bud you got to go to tapeworms for insight colon

i been nominated for parasite poet laureate and i am thinking of making a change so my soul can have freer expression for one thing dickerson has lost ten pounds i hope you dont think rationing hasnt hit us fellows and as for culture i been starved for years period hanover is full of navy and marines these days but from a worms point of view a marine is tougher than festung europa it must be the fortitude

i been thinking about charlie widmayer now that he is running the alumni magazine that might be a real opportunity for me but charlie keeps pecking at his typewriter twenty four hours a day which wouldnt leave much pecking time for me and when i get a poetic frenzy i got to have a outlet period .

so bud i thought i would give you an option i dont know how much poetic insight youve got but you couldnt be any worse than dickerson and if you could just offer me a nice environment i would be better off than i am now and you could leave the insight to me eh question mark

i get around a bit and could be quite a help on the class notes and my friend lorinda gets around too she covers the army in a lousy sort of way take john french for example he is a professor at camp benning and says he is completely chairborne

he come up the hard way and has less belly and more hair than most of the boys tough for tapeworms but good for lice

speaking of lice you wouldnt want to forget major kip chase you probably saw in timemagazine about general kenney and his aide quote able beady eyed clarence kip chase unquote now the Saturday evening post comes out with a piece called skipbombing the japs with a lot of stuff about kip on a reconnaissance mission over uncharted new guinea and references to kip nodding his quote round well bred head unquote so what does general kenney do but bestow a medal on able beady eyed well bred round headed major chase kip recently received a piece of purple prose from dickerson about hanovers lovely lush green elm trees kip read as much of the stuff as he could and then drafted a telegram signed ethel barrymore which said dear skip your corn is green unquote he ought to get a medal for that too

lorinda says dick zeigler the old hotel zombie has traded in his white carnation for a silver bar and is running a hostelry for uncle sam down at randolph field hes the guy the bellhops used to call the house dick heh heh and now dick dickers with mess sergeants instead of french chefs take your choice dick tells skip to look up that skipbombing piece dick says he roomed with kip chase freshman yr and it couldnt be any other feller dick says lieut billy moore the dallas flash with air combat intelligence is probably operating his mammoth intellect over italy these days a fellas got to join the army to get into the intelligentsia thats why lorinda who is a likely louse is covering the army period

me i covers the waterfront and the likes of si chandler the sea going lieutenant now in the pacific on a destroyer escort and bill brown who was spotted a while ago by one of my naval intelligence operatives in a west coast shipyard he wasnt there for no launching bill was launched a good long time ago and not with champagne either my guess is he wasnt there for any drydock either and darned if i know why he was there

speaking of the waterfront reminds me of old chuck faye who used to be able to quell a san francisco wharf rat with a glance before the western pacific railroad decided to wean him on locomotive smoke where he got to be an operating big shot and wound up last year coordinator of emergency defense and now pops up as assistant to general manager and guardian angel to one thousand imported mexicans working on the railroad all the live long day

larry the liver fluke a restless type of parasite has been putting in a stretch aboard an upcountry sheep says carl haffenreffer was up to bald peak this summer larry says he calls that carrying coals to newcastle well bud i call that straining for a laugh because haffys got a darned sight more hair than you have not to mention skip who counts em every morning without being very late to work and then mcfarland the erstwhile hairy barrister is none too hirsute any more but what a job he did on that alumni fund

you know when nelson rockefeller was figuring on going to Washington from rockefeller center he knew darned well that bob bottome would own the place by the time he got back so he decides to send bottome to Venezuela and fix him up with a company semi colon bottome becomes president of'compania de fomento venezelano in Caracas naturally he foments like crazy but probably nelson figures if bob gets to own the place it will be cordell hulls problem not his after bottome gets Venezuela neatly coordinated for compania de fomento they figure they might as well let him coordinate for uncle sam so then he is cultural and commercial coordinator for Venezuela get a load of that cultural colon well now the treasury dept has got to have somebody to take stuff away from the nazis and eyeties and do something fruitful with it so henry morgenthau says to himself he says who could take it away from em nicer than bottome question mark so now bottome is alien property custodian for south america or so i hear and all i can say is it will be like taking candy from a baby hoping you are the same
