You WILL find it hard to believe that I recently attended a meeting of the Dartmouth Club of the "S . . . . Islands," but I did. Present were just seven of us: one general (Brigadier USA); one lieutenant colonel USA; one captain (myself) USMCR; one ensign USNR; three lieutenants, Navy Reserve Medical Corps. Of those present, I had already met all but one doctor and the. ensign, but did not realize those I had met were Dartmouth. Meeting actually consisted of one drink of Johnny Walker, one dinner (wild pigeon roasted, native fruit salad, a native vegetable which was delicious—looked like squash, tasted like pumpkin only better, and ice cream for dessert.) Since there was the problem of getting back to my camp, it was necessary for Smith (Dr. Smith of our Bn.) and I to leave before dark for the boat run. So much for the meeting. I think it is rather unusual to hold such a meeting—never expected it.
