I can't decide whether or not its sacrilegious to set aside part of my honeymoon for an article, but in any case, here goes. Ellie and I are in Peru, Vt., for a couple of weeks that seem to be flying by like lightning. I'm again reminded that New England is the Lord's sugarplum, and that my wife is my own sugarplum. Ye Gods, the corn is green. Stink Davis was my best man and more than apt at arranging things. Cy MacKinnon was there, and I'm still trying to figure out if that was a moustache hovering on his lip. Lindy Davis hasn't gotten to the grotesque stage yet, but there's another Davis on the way, and also another MacKinnon. ,

Major Bill Chamberlin is with the Marines in the South Pacific. After eight months in Iceland he went into Guadalcanal. For two months after the campaign he was hospitalized, was promoted this summer, and is now Executive Officer of a battalion. Majors Harry Connor and Tom Richmond are still in the Fifth Marinesthree years so far. Harry comments on the hope that the public won't grow tired of the war in the Pacific before it can be brought to a logical conclusion. "If only out of fairness to those boys who have already given so much out here this job must be done up right."

I'd hoped to have a short soiree with McMurtrie in Chicago, but he still doesn't know how to behave himself and he got caught short with some watch duty. Lt. John Nelson is batting back and forth across the Pacific with the Transportation Corps. Lt. John Godfrey is overseas with the Medical Corps. Wife, Jean, and John Jr., born October 6, are living in Burlington. Last heard from, Jack Lutz was taking basic training with the Army Air Forces in Miami. He expected to get further Signal Corps training and then be assigned to Air Force Communications. Bud Walls is with the 10th Transport Squadron at La Guardia Field. Captain Scott Runkle has hit the overseas road. John Smillie expects to graduate from Cornell Med this month, and hopes to be assigned to Massachusetts General Hospital. Archibald is still on the road for the Navy. He's with the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts.

Betty Burghardt and Lt. Don Stroud were married October 23 in Milwaukee, and that, little children, finishes our tale for this month. Good night and sweet dreams.
