The Dartmouth Alumni Association of the Great Divide held its second annual Dartmouth Cup Ski Race on March 27. This giant slalom was staged for the boys' ski teams of the secondary schools of Metropolitan Denver and other Colorado communities east of the Continental Divide.

This year's race, as last year's race, was held at Arapahoe Basin. Larry Jump '36, director of the Arapahoe Basin Corporation, was very helpful in lending his facilities, equipment, and time for the event. Six schools entered teams this year and Chuck Lewis, son of HarryLewis '29, was captain of the winning team from East High School. The awards, one Perpetual Team Trophy and three individual prizes were presented by Ralph Rickenbaugh '28, president of the local alumni club, at the banquet that evening.

The idea for this race was not original with the Colorado alumni. When John McCrillis '19 of Newport, N. H., was visiting his daughter and son-in-law, Newc Eldredge '50, in Denver two years ago, he told them what the Portland, Ore. alumni had been doing along this line. The ski-conscious Denver area seemed like a good place to start a similar project. The idea was transformed into reality last year when Keith Anderson '39 and Newc Eldredge '50 organized the alumni and interested high school people into a working group.

We hope and think that this race will help in the recruiting of good boys for Dartmouth by developing interest in the College early.

The skiing alumni in Denver and Boulder, too numerous to mention individually, have been most enthusiastic and cooperative in lending their services as timers, gatekeepers, etc., in order to make the race a success.

A great time was had by all.
