Another candidate for a Victory Garden that should be well landscaped—Bob More is the author of "Evergreens for Colorado" in the December 1 issue of American Nurseryman. We'll be interested to report on gardens this year. To start the ball rolling, the secretary will have his usual gardens plus a little more area. Last year they were about one acre total.
John S. Macdonald, project manager of Contractors for Drydocks, in February was installed as president of the Moles—New York heavy construction men's organization. Jack had been a previous recipient of the Moles award for Outstanding Achievement in Heavy Construction.
Collin Wells is managing the men's drive in Brooklyn for the American Red Cross War Emergency Drive for $1,900,000. He was released from the China Relief for this purpose.
Grandpa Keith Wood's still being in Lisbon doesn't prevent mention of Jim Harris '63 in this column. Jean Wood Harris says that as long as Jim's Dad is Norwich there seems to be a clash at this stage of the game as to his attendance at Dartmouth. Young Jim has three greatgrand-mothers, one great-grandfather, one great, great uncle, one great, great, great aunt, five great-uncles, five great aunts, two grandfathers, two grandmothers and a mother and a father—all living—to help him decide.
George Davidson has been changing his address rapidly from one air field to another. As the airport construction has slowed down a bit he will probably be at West Palm Beach, Florida for a couple of months, supervising a Service Men's Recreation Building.
Marc Wright, Lt. Comdr. USNR has an address at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Box 42, living "a good rugged life and has to be in the pink to keep up with the young aviators." With all the work he has time for a little tennis and swimming and there is a nine-hole golf course there also. Sam Sheldon '14 and Chivers of ski fame and Downey Grey of '41 are with him.
Dr. William L. Davis has been appointed associate medical director of the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company of Boston. Bill has been assistant medical director since 1929.
David B. Morey of North Wilbraham has joined the staff of CAA instructors at the American International College, which is conducting the pilot training course there for the benefit of the Army Air Force Enlisted Reserve. Dave holds a CAA airman rating as a ground school instructor and has been teaching a pre-flight course in the evening division of AIC, which he will also continue
Dr. James J. Powers, 1913 Medical, who left Manchester, N. H., to serve a third time in the Army Medical Corps, was given an impressive testimonial in the main ballroom of the Carpenter Hotel. Lt. Col. Powers' son, Lt. James J. Powers Jr., Dartmouth '39, was at the head table. Dr. Pow- ers has been a practicing physician in Manchester for 30 years and has been an active member of the Democratic party, serving on the Governor's Council, as a member of the State Board of Education and the National Board of Health. He is on the Interstate Bridge Authority and is a member of the International College of Surgeons and a member of local, county and state medical societies. As a surgeon he is on the staff of the Sacred Heart Hospital.
