Letters from the class are very thin this month, and it leaves your Secretary without much to say and very little time to say it, withal a wire from Hanover this morning to get it up. Coming on March 15, it's like having the income tax collector yell, "Get it Up"—which is perhaps why there hasn't been much correspondence.
But anyway, I did get one letter which was most welcome—from Vice President Phil Alexander from Denver, who doesn't write very often, but when he does, he gets a lot of news in a small space. Phil is active on his own, selling war bonds, serving on a draft board, and Mrs. Phil is deep in Red Cross work; while two of their boys are in the Air Corps. The Alexanders have certainly set a good example for all of us. Let's hear from some more of you across the country.
When I say that I didn't get much correspondence in any month, however, it doesn't mean that my good right arm in Boston fails me, for as usual Eben Clough feeds me what news he can pick up—but even he didn't see so many of the boys the last 30 days, and couldn't help the column out. But, by heck, he writes me and let's me know he's on the job.
I note that the Alumni Fund notices are out, and I suggest thai you help Shrimp Williams out by sending along that check when you read this—you are going to do so anyway—and that will help him out, will bring some news from you, and will be one of the finest possible donations you have ever made to the College. For this year, of all years, the Alumni Fund will mean much to everyone connected now or in the past with the College—curtailment in enrollment, with all the younger boys now entering the service, means added burdens which must be assumed by each and every alumnus to see things through. This is the year for all kinds of donations—War Bonds, Red Cross, USO, and all the rest—not to mention the very current income tax payments, with the possibility of a Ruml-scrambled tax plan in a few months—we, anyway—we know all that, BUT
That Alumni Fund donation is one we just can't overlook—so bulge up Shrimp's incoming mail—NOW.
Just a couple of changes in address this month from the College office—Tommy Tomfohrde, 1120 N. Pershing Way, Stockton, Calif.; Ben Tobin Jr., 3237 Bryan Manor, Dallas, Tex.
