FELLOWSHIPS FOR GRADUATE STUDY in the sciences have been awarded to three ..Dartmouth seniors, it was announced by President Hopkins on April is. Recipients of the $900 grants are Ralph G. Beaman of Plymouth, Mass.; John P. Brown of Hanover; and Joseph A. Dammann of Dayton, Ohio, all of whom will graduate at the end of the intersession in June.

Beaman has been awarded the Fred DeMerritte Barker Fellowship and will study organic chemistry at the University of Illinois. Brown, the son of Prof. Bancroft Brown of the Mathematics Department, has been awarded the Henry Elijah Parker Fellowship and will study physical mathematics at Brown University. Dammann is the recipient of the Charles O. Miller Jr. Memorial Fellowship and will study organic chemistry at the University of Illinois.

Beaman, a chemistry major, has been a ranking student in that field as well as in mathematics and physics. He is secretary of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity and prepared for Dartmouth at Plymouth (Mass.) High School and at Staunton Military Academy. His general scholastic average is 3.24.

Brown, a Rufus Choate Scholar and Phi Beta Kappa member, is majoring in mathematics. He is an associate member of the Dartmouth Players and a member of the Natural History Club, and has been on the cross-country and track squads. He was the winner of a Thayer mathematics prize in 1941. Brown prepared for Dartmouth at Hanover High School and for his six semesters in college has a general average of 3.93.

Dammann, a chemistry major, is a Rufus Choate Scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was awarded the Francis L. Town Scientific Prize last year and is a member of Pi Lambda Phi fraternity. He entered Dartmouth from Dayton's Steele High School, where he was football captain. His general scholastic average for six semesters of college is 3.60.
