The Bulletin of the General Contractors Association for November announces the selection of Luther Oakes 'OO as a recipient of the 1949 Moles Award for outstanding construction achievement. The award will be presented at a meeting of that group in New York in February. The Bulletin contained the following sketch: "Luther S. From Allen Richmond '15 we have received a clipping from the San Juan, Puerto Rico, newspaper El Mundo showing a bird's eye view of the construction of a 30mgpd water purification plant for that city. Designers and supervisors of construction of this project are Buck, Seifert and Jost, consulting engineers of New York, the last named being Charlie Jost '27.

Visitors at Thayer School during November included John S. Macdonald '14, Vice-President of the Walsh Construction Company; Robert M. Dewey '23, Vice-President of Arex Indemnity Company, New York City; Park W. Stickney '09, District Manager of Warren Webster & Company, Chicago.

A letter received some time ago from JohnFondahl '48 announced his move from Pittsburgh, where he was with the American Bridge Company, to Honolulu, where he is now instructor in the civil engineering department of the University of Hawaii. The Fondahls are most enthusiastic about their new surroundings, and John's description of their arrival in Honolulu may give some indication of why: "The chairman of my department, Mr. Holmes, greeted us with ginger flower leis and later at his house presented Doris with more than a dozen orchids which he raises in the back yard." He also says, "I would appreciate having correspondence addressed here to my office (Engineering and Mathematics Dept., University of Hawaii, P.O. Box 18, Honolulu 10, T.H.) and would like to hear from any of the fellows."

A good letter from John Arborio '38, whose home is in Clinton Corners, New York, gives a pleasant picture of his personal and business situation: "All goes well with us. My wife and I have a boy nine months old now and we think he is a prize. His name is Timothy more or less in remembrance of Timson whom you do doubt recall. At present I am vice-president of my dad's construction company in charge of construction; which means I'm in the field most of the time doing the dirty work. Thanks be, though, we landed a parkway job close to home so next year I'll be at home more. Now our jobs are pretty well spread out and it keeps me hopping.''

Congratulations to William John (Bill)Eckel, instructor in electrical engineering, on his marriage, December 19, to Edith Margaret Spooner at the Central Methodist Church in Brockton, Mass. The Eckels spent their Christmas vacation on a wedding trip to Bermuda.
