THE CLIMAX OF AN ACTIVE SEASON for the Dartmouth Club of Western New York was reached on April 28th when the annual dinner and election of officers was held at the Saturn Club in Buffalo. It was our good fortune to have Dean Neidlinger as speaker and his remarks on "The Function of an Educational Institution in the War Effort" gave us a front line viewpoint of the unusual problems facing the College in these times. President Herbert F. Darling '26 presided, and Horace F. Taylor '23, as toastmaster, entertained us with some of his special comments that he reserves to polish up these occasions.
Officers elected for next year are Hugh A. Johnson '30, president; Carlton S. Wicker '14, vice-president; H. Carleton White '23, secretary; and E. Paul Venneman '26, treasurer. Members chosen for the Executive Committee are Edwin R. Bartlett '04, Herbert F. Darling '26, and M. Richard Burlingame '26.
Following the meeting it was in order to renew old acquaintances and in natural course there developed an old-fashioned "hum" which carried on to finish the evening. In point of attendance and enthusiasm this was one of the most successful dinners we have had. The luncheons at the Buffalo Athletic Club on the first and third Mondays of each month are being continued through the summer and any Dartmouth men in the vicinity are invited to join us.
