THE APPOINTMENT OF two alumni and one undergraduate to the administrative staff of the College have been announced during the past month. Charles B. Arthur '34 has been appointed an Administrative Assistant; Richard Tarlow '44 has joined the staff as assistant instructor in Tuck School and as liaison assistant with the Navy; and Richard G. Gilman '45 has been named Director of Athletic Publicity for the Dartmouth College Athletic Council.
In addition to his administrative duties, Mr. Arthur is at the present time teaching courses in Naval History. For the past two years he has been taking graduate work in history at Harvard. Before that he was associated with Hebron Academy, Hebron, Maine, most recently as field secretary in Massachusetts and before that as teacher and coach at the school.
While at Dartmouth, he won varsity letters in hockey and baseball, and in 1936-37 and 1937-38 he coached the U.S. Preparatory School Hockey Champions. He is a member of Kappa Phi Kappa and Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
Mr. Tarlow, who comes from Brockton, Mass., is a graduate of the Tuck School. As an undergradute he was business manager of The Dartmouth, a member of Green Key and of Pi Lambda Phi fraternity. In addition to his work at Tuck and with the Navy V-12 Unit, he is serving in a business and editorial capacity on the staff of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE.
Gilman, who comes from Manchester, N. H., has served as president of the Dartmouth Press Club for the past year, and is Hanover correspondent for several metropolitan newspapers including the BostonGlobe, the Springfield Republican, the Manchester Union-Leader, and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
In addition, he is sports editor of the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE, president of the Dartmouth Christian Union, a former member of Green Key, and a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity.
