PHILIP S. MARDEN '94, former alumni trustee of the College and now associate editor of the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE, has been named chairman of a committee appointed to make a start toward developing ideas for the ultimate establishment of an appropriate memorial to Eleazar Wheelock and recognition of outstanding historic developments of the College. Associated with Mr. Marden in this survey of plans that may eventually be promulgated are: James W. Newton '86, Leon B. Richardson '00, Francis L. Childs '06, William C. Hill '02, Paul Sample '20, Sidney C. Hayward '26 and Fredrick Larson, College Architect.
Dr. T. Donald Cunningham '13, president of the Alumni Council during the past year, appointed the Wheelock Memorial Committee after the Dartmouth Secretaries Association had requested such action of the Alumni Council. The subject of a fitting Memorial to Dartmouth's founder has been discussed by the Secretaries Association at its annual meeting. The proposal originated with James W. Newton '86. Suggestions from alumni in regard to a suitable form for the Memorial will be welcomed by the committee and may be sent to Mr. Marden, chairman, 84 Fairmount Street, Lowell, Mass.
