Editor's Note: Alfred E. Watson, secretary of the Class of 1883, was unable to send in his notes for this issue, due to an automobile accident. In a letter to the MAGAZINE office, he said, "My car, striking a glare piece of ice in the road that had not been sanded, tried the 'snap-the-whip' of my boyhood days and drove head on into a large maple tree near the side of the road, knocking the breath out of me and straining the cartilage and muscles in my breast.... the hospital was fu11.... accommodations were available here at Dick's House. It was decided inasmuch as I was an old Dartmouth alumnus, that I would be eligible for entry here, so, fortunately for me, here I am, where I have received fine treatment."
