APPOINTMENT TO THE Dartmouth faculty . of seven new men who began their duties with the opening of the July term has been announced by President Hopkins, bringing the total of new faculty members this term to 18.

Rexford Moulton, who has served since 1941 as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toledo, will fill the same position at Thayer School. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1933. Robert D. Funkhouser Jr. '27, Assistant Bursar, has been elected Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Tuck School. He will teach only on a part-time basis, while continuing his main administrative duties.

Leland D. Hemenway joins the Dartmouth faculty as Instructor in Physics, and Theodore C. Jarvi as Instructor in Physical Education. Mr. Hemenway teaches at Simmons College and will be here only for the greater part of the summer term. Mr. Jarvi, a graduate of Springfield College, has taught at Boston University and Harvard.

President Hopkins also announced appointment of the Rev. Charles Tucke, 0.5.8., and the Rev. Bernard Holmes, 0.5.8., both of St. Anselm's College, as Visiting Lecturers in Mathematics for the present term, although both reached Hanover late last term and began to teach at that time. Dr. William A. Ellis, a graduate of Rhode Island State '36, will be a Teaching Fellow in Anatomy in the Dartmouth Medical School.

Previous faculty appointments which became effective on July 1 included Dr. Earl Cranston '16, Phillips Professor of Religion; Robert P. Trainor, instructor in mechanical engineering at the Thayer School; Dr. Charles E. Messer, instructor in chemistry; John C. Van Buskirk '32, instructor in chemistry; Arthur C. Edwards, instructor in navigation; Charles A. Loney, instructor in navigation; Howard O. Stearns '15, instructor in physics; Roy L. Gale, instructor in physics; Rupert H. Hopkins, instructor in physics; Dr. Sam- uel Feldman, instructor in physics; and Rossiter R. Bellinger, instructor in Eng- lish.
