ANIMPORTANT NEW appointment to the Dartmouth faculty was made by the Board of Trustees at its meeting on June 9 when it elected Dr. Thomas Stevenson Kirkpatrick Scott-Craig of Hobart College to the post of Assistant Professor of Philosophy. Dr. Scott-Craig will come to Hanover on November 1 and as part of his duties will direct a new course in philosophy which will be open to freshmen.

Dr. Scott-Craig has been at Hobart College since 1938 as Assistant Professor of English. He is acting head of his department and director of a coordinated three- year program in the humanities, largely pertaining to English, literary criticism and philosophy. Mrs. Scott-Craig is Dean of William Smith College.

Dr. Scott-Craig was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and received his university training at Edinburgh, Zurich, and Tubingen. He did his undergraduate work at Edinburgh, receiving his M.A. there with a First Class in English in 1931.
