Ninteen hundred twenty-five was represented on "the fightingest ship in the Navy"—the aircraft carrier Enterprise— by Lt. Comdr. Frank Kennedy, who was executive officer of the famous "Fighting 20" squadron of night fighters which set a record of knocking out 822 enemy planes.
Frank served on "The Big E," and also on the carrier Lexington, during many of the most important battles and carrier strikes of the Pacific campaign, including Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Leyte, Luzon, Yap, Palau, Formosa, Hong Kong, Camarach Bay, and the Second Battle of the Philippines. About half of the original pilots in the "Fighting 20" were lost in action.
Frank prepared for Dartmouth at Peddie and Montclair (N. J.) High School. In college he played on the freshman football team and was a member of DKE. Since leaving Dartmouth he has spent all of his business life in Wall Street. In 1933 he formed, with a number of associates from C. F. Childs & Co., the new firm of C. J. Divine & Co., dealers in U. S. Government and Municipal bonds. Frank has now returned to this firm as an active partner.
While on his last duty in the South China Sea, Frank got a flash announcing the arrival of a daughter—Colleen Bonny—whom he had to wait six months to meet.
