Three members of the Van Kirk family, Major Frank '35, Captain Arthur H. '38, and Mr. Fipps, their pet Schnauzer, following extended war service, are all about to return to a civilian status.
Mr. Fipps, who signed up in May 1942, has already been through the mill of a separation center in Nebraska.
Major Frank, Army Medical Corps, is on terminal leave after an overseas service in the Pacific from 1942 to 1944 and in Europe from 1944 to his recent honorable discharge. His duty in the Southwest Pacific included Guadalcanal and New Georgia and he holds the Bronze Star Medal.
Captain Arthur was inducted in January 1941 and went overseas as an intelligence officer in 1943. He has served in Tunis, Sicily, Italy, and southern France.
