Two DARTMOUTH MEN stepped up to top positions among American flyers in Europe when Col. David C. Schilling '39 and Lt. Col. John C. Meyer '41 early in January ran their grand totals of German planes shot down up to and 37, respectively.

Both men have been in the Army Air Forces since 1939- Colonel Schilling holds the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Silver Star, and the Air Medal with clusters. Colonel Meyer has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with three clusters, the Air Medal with three clusters and the Silver Star.

At Dartmouth Schilling, who graduated, majored in geology and Meyer was studying medicine at the time he left to enlist.
