As Gov. Jeanne Shaheen's newly appointed chair ofa blue ribbon tax commission in New Hampshire,former Dartmouth president David McLaughlin '54 is all over the state's media as his group evaluatespotential revenue streams—including an incometax. McLaughlin told a Valley News interviewer: "Iasked Shaheen, 'Is anything off the table?' 'No, it'snot,' she said." That chair could be a taxing job.

Chances are Coerte V.W. Felske '82 hopes the world's fixation on the millennium is not totally dead. He's the author of the new novel The MilleniumGirl (St. Martin's Press). A profile of Felske in Vogue tagged him as a "novelist-cum-boulevardier," an author whose oeuvre parallels his life. "To Felske...the velvet rope simply does not exist," said Vogue. The new book, his third, chronicles the search by hisfast-lane heroine, Bodicea, for a rich husband with several vacation homes andaGulfstream to connect them.
