THE ALUMNI FUND of 1945 will open with a general mailing to all Dartmouth alumni early in February, following a schedule similar to that of last year. Chairman Joshua A. Davis '27 of New York has indicated that the probable goal for the 1945 campaign will be 1300,000, the estimated figure for the College's operating deficit for the current fiscal year. This objective was approved by the Alumni Council last fall, but the Council authorized the Fund Committee to establish a goal in accordance with conditions at the time that the campaign opened.
President Hopkins has been invited by the Fund Committee to write a message to serve as the initial mailing piece for the 1945 campaign.
Early pre-campaign contributions as of January 15 totaled $30,000, or $10,000 more than the total at the same time last year. This figure is apart from the contributions of $25,000 made to the separate Reconversion Special Fund described on the following page.
The usual meetings of the class agents, it is expected, will take place early in April, and June 30 has been set as the closing date for the Fund.
The Fund Committee for this year consists of the following: Joshua A. Davis '27, Chairman; Albert I. Dickerson '30, Executive Secretary; Thomas P. Campbell '18; Eugene Hotchkiss '22; Alex J. McFarland '30; Clark Weymouth '26. George F. Therriault '33 continues as Alumni Fund Associate, assisting Mr. Dickerson in the general running of the Fund Office, and giving special attention to the younger classes and the Dartmouth Parents Committee.
