Judge Henry S. Richardson, known to his classmates as "Hardy," died at the Claremont General Hospital on Sunday, February 4, 1945

"Hardy" prepared for Dartmouth at Kimball Union Academy and came to Hanover in the fall of 1892. He was a conscientious student, active in the doings of his class and graduated with Phi Beta Kappa rank. His deep sincerity coupled with a keen sense of humor attracted to him a host of friends from all the classes in College at that time. After graduation he taught in high schools for a short time, and then studied law.

Admitted to the Bar in 1903 he settled in Claremont, N. H., in 1905, where he soon became a leader in the civic and fraternal activities of that place.

He was a Mason—Rotarian—Red Cross executive and library trustee. At the time of his death he was president of the Claremont National Bank and the Claremont Savings Bank.

His term as judge of probate of Sullivan County began in 1917 and continued until 1943 when he retired on his seventieth birthday. He was elected to New Hampshire State Senate in the fall of 1944.

Surviving him are a daughter, Miss Barbara Richardson, of Springfield, Mass., and a brother, Charles S. Richardson, of Claremont.

His obituary appears in the In Memoriam section of the next issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE.
