DARTMOUTH COLLEGE CLUB 39 East 39th Street
ONE BIG ALL-CLASS alumni association dinner will be held this year on April 26 at the Hotel Pennsylvania. Details are being ironed out by recently appointed committees whose chairmen are Henry A. Shepherd '11, hotel and arrangements; Shirley Cunningham '05, finance and tickets; Thomas Hession '27, class attendance; John McEndy '16, service men's attendance; Malcolm Hubert '23, music; and John Palmer '14, publicity.
For several years two separate meetings on successive evenings have been held at the Dartmouth Club bcause limited accommodations there prevented having one big get-together. The shift is expected to increase interest in the dinner at which President Hopkins of the College will be guest of honor. Following wartime custom, enlisted servicemen will be dinner guests of the Dartmouth Club at the alumni dinner, Clifford Hart '21, general chairman, has announced. Many class groups are expected to meet at the club for cocktails before the dinner, he added.
Roswell F. Magill '16, long active in College affairs, has been nominated to the Alumni Council to succeed Leslie Snow '12,. who is not eligible for reelection. Magill, attorney and former Undersecretary of the Treasury, is an authority on tax and finance problems.
The Dartmouth Club's bridge team corralled top honors in the intercollegiate bridge league. Chief credit goes to Captain Harold Halstead '11 and his iron men, Coleman '11, Major Hicks '21 and Marks '34 who fought their way up to second place although starting a full eight points behind because the club was not represented in the opening matches. The actual title win was made by the reserve team, playing on the final evening, composed of Redman '06, Kinney '10, Rollins '11 and Demond '19.
Basil O'Connor '12, national chairman of the American Red Cross, and Tuss McLaughry, Hanoverian football coach, were speakers during the past month (March) at Dartmouth Club open house meetings. Both drew large audiences.
