THE DARTMOUTH CLUB OF G-P is in constant session, for three Big Greeners have been permanently assigned to the thriving Garmisch Recreation Center, Third Army's fabulous set-up for giving Gl's and officers a real rest from their Occupational duties. These three are young Mac Fraser '48 and Colin Stewart '48 and myself. In addition to the three of us, there are many from Dartmouth who fight their way down to these quaint twin Alpine villages to get their fill of rest, sport, and scenery while on pass or furlough. The Summer Sport Program in Garmisch has proved to be even more ambitious than the winter schedule which included weekly ski jumps, ice reviews, hockey games, bob races, and night ski jumping. For this summer Garmisch has featured specialized leisure-time sports such as Falt-boat tours down the mountain streams, mountain climbing of all degrees of difficulty, and water skiing, with a huge program of ordinary participatory sports such as tennis, golf, riding, swimming, sailing, etc. Garmisch also boasts year-round skiing on her Zugspitz Mountain, and ice skating is possible all summer in the valley at the new Casa Carioca Night Club, where the dance floor rolls over the rink to permit open-air dancing under the Bavarian moon while the Alpine breezes blow.
