Our '33 mail is still light, we regret to say. Hope we won't have to wait until the deep snows of winter tie you to your firesides before you get off (or rather, on) your duffs and drop us a line. Meanwhile we have only a trickle of news from a few letters and the übiquitous services of the Alumni Records Office; some of that, however, not without interest.

For example, a clipping from the Indianapolis Star brings us the news that Ed Janjigian, following in the footsteps of the impressive number of his colleagues in medicine who have turned to writing, has recently published his first novel, Doctor Destiny. Judging from the review in the Star, because we have been unable to get a copy as yet, his novel reflects Ed's professional interests. A' practicing physician and psychiatrist in Edinburg, Ind., before the war and since his return from the service, Ed holds the degrees of Ph.D. from Chicago and M.D. from Boston University. Doctor Destiny is the story of a boy's struggle to become a doctor in spite of his family's poverty and his father's brutal opposition, his success in overcoming these difficulties and achieving a reputation of some note in his field, and his final failure, ending in suicide, due to certain flaws and weaknesses in his personality. Our best wishes to Ed in his new venture. We intend to read his book as soon as we can get our hands on it, and when we have found out the name of the publisher we'll pass the news on to the rest of you so you can do the same.

A couple of classmates have found their way to Hanover in recent weeks. Wes Beattie, now out of the service and covering New England as a salesman for a Boston chemical firm, showed up one Saturday afternoon just in time to get a preview of the football team in its preseason practice game with Springfield. MelKatz, his wife and two boys spent part of their vacation here, hiking over some of the D.O.C. trails in the vicinity of Hanover and managing, in spite of unfavorable weather, to give the boys a sound indoctrination course in the attractions of Hanover and vicinity. After warming up by climbing to Holt's cabin and covering a good part of the trail to Moose they went on to the Presidentials and climbed Lafayette, Wildcat, and Cannon. If the classes of '60 and '61 don't have a couple of enthusiastic clubbers after that trip it won't be Mel's fault. The latest arrival in the Katz menage, Virginia, born last June, finessed this trip. Randy Valensi, just out of the Army after serving as a meteorologist in the Air Forces, accompanied Mel and family as far as Hanover.

A couple more marriages have depleted still further the ranks of '33's stalwart holdouts. Freddy White was married on September 6 to JeanXoretta Wallace of Red Bank, N. J., and a belated announcement arrived a couple of weeks ago of the marriage June 30 of TomNoonan to Helen Marie Kennedy of Hazleton, Pa.
